Overall evaluation of the process

No complications. This is a great machine! The best is the Intel video card

This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6.25.3-18.fc9

Basic Installation of Fedora 9:

• I've installed Fedora 9 because I'm RedHat boy ;-), I'm already using Fedora 9 on my Proliant 400 and in the Compaq6510b in the office, so no thanks, no time for any other distro.
• Obtaining Fedora 9, just donwload it from any of the mirrors or download via Torrent (recomended) Live CD torent or the DVD torent In this case I've use the Fedora 9 Install DVD
• Boot from disk, works like charm.
• mplayer installed using livna repo (totem sucks so bad!).

    
  	Install the livna-repo:
  	rpm -Uvh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-9.rpm
  
  	Then just do:
  	yum -y install mplayer mplayerplug-in
  	mplayerplug-in provides the Firefox's plugin.
  	I've downloaded the "All codecs" package from mplayer Package then, as root, extracted into /usr/lib/win32.
     

• Support for mp3 in Banshee installed using livna repo.

    
  	See the previous item for livna repo configuration.
  	yum -y install gstreamer-plugins-ugly
     

• Support for Adobe Flash Player using Adobe repo.

    
  	Install the Adobe-Repo:
  	rpm -Uvh http://linuxdownload.adobe.com/adobe-release/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
  
  	Or visit the download site for updated info.
  	Then just do:
  	yum -y install flash-plugin
     

• Added gtk+ for Enemy Territory.

    
  	yum -y install gtk+
     

• Added in /etc/ssh/ssh_config (I'm too lazy to add -X every time)

    
  	In Host *
  	        ForwardX11 yes
     

• Things to remember

    
  	For sound support in flash (at install time o later)
  		yum -y install libflashsupport
  	Remove Totem and Rhythmbox
  		yum -y remove totem-nautilus totem-gstreamer totem-mozplugin totem totem-xine totem-pl-parser rhythmbox
  	Install Banshee (Almost the same than Rhytmbox, but Mono based!)
  		yum -y install banshee
  	Disable some services
  		chkconfig anacron off
  		chkconfig auditd off
  		chkconfig avahi-daemon off
  		chkconfig ip6tables off
  		chkconfig iptables off
  		chkconfig irqbalance off
  		chkconfig isdn off
  		chkconfig mdmonitor off
  		chkconfig netfs off
  		chkconfig nfslock off
  		chkconfig rpcbind off
  		chkconfig rpcgssd off
  		chkconfig rpcidmapd off
  		chkconfig setroubleshoot off
  		chkconfig atd off	
     

Unresolved issues

• Some problem with compiz (some blank screen).
